I think that by far the best time period to enter into a discussion on is the Cold War (1960-1990). This period offers up so much in the way of intrigue and conflict that you can never truly run out topics to discuss. Just the Vietnam war offers too many topics to even list.

 Hi, I'm Zach.

A little background. I was a long time photojournalist till I suffered my third back surgery...end of career.

With nothng to do (and to get out of the house) I decided to get myself to the public library. Instead of just surfing around to kill time I came upon the site "free-ed.net." They have a free American history course. Well, history being my favorite subject in high school (but really never paid much attention - too busy becoming a photojournalist), I decided to teach myself American history.

I found this site. Looks good to me. Hope I can get a lot of help from you participating on this site. It's obvious you like history too.

I look forward to making new friends and learning.

Zach ~

I'm new here too, and i also look forward to find new interesting stuff here. Would like to mention that my favorite American history period is the one in which the U.S. silver dollar played its role.
