I know that this is a new sit and sounds cool so I will ask a more general question, what is the peroid of American history that you would like to dissusse or feel most informed in. For me I would have to say the War of 1812. What would you guys say about your selves?

I've been into civil war, but interesting you mention war of 1812. I just saw Master and Commander and thought it was great. As soon as i have time i'd like to read a Patrick O'Brian book from the series that the movie was based on. Any recommendations for getting started? I checked amazon, but it was kind of confusing all the stuff that came up. I really got into history after graduating so I didn't pay attention much the first time around.

Hey, I just found it at our library (sp?) ON TAPE!!! Wonderful to listen to in the car. I will admit I haven’t started it yet, but its next.

If you’re interested in more info about that movie we went to a small event in Columbus GA, at the Columbus Port Naval Museum. I think a yr ago, a guy who helped advise on the movie about the cannons and gun deck was there and did his own little slideshow for us. It was really awesome!!! (Cant remember his name though Sorry)

Talking about Navies though, I was wondering if anyone has any info on American Civil War Naval Tactics. I'm trying to get info together for the men in our group.

Any info or links whatever would be wonderful.
